Jordan recalls Iranian Chargé d'Affaires and hands him a strongly worded protest note

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday the summoning of the Iranian Chargé d’Affaires in Amman and the delivery of a strongly worded protest note regarding Iranian attacks that targeted Jordanian territory, demanding that Tehran halt them immediately. In a statement, the ministry said it had informed the Chargé d’Affaires of a strongly worded protest message condemning the continued Iranian aggression, which it described as “barbaric and unjustified,” and which targeted Jordanian territory, alongside “incendiary and provocative” statements issued by official Iranian entities against Jordan.

The ministry’s official spokesperson, Fuad Al-Majali, affirmed that the ministry had requested the Chargé d’Affaires to convey a clear message to his country regarding the urgent need to stop attacks on Jordan immediately, stressing that Jordan’s security and the safety of its citizens constitute a “red line” that cannot be violated, as well as the necessity to halt unacceptable incitement rhetoric. Al-Majali clarified that the ministry reiterated its condemnation and denunciation of the “barbaric” Iranian attacks, which represent a blatant violation of Jordan’s sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter.

He also affirmed Jordan’s condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, reiterating the kingdom’s full solidarity with them and its steadfast support for any measures they take to protect their sovereignty, security, and the safety of their citizens and residents on their territories. Al-Majali reiterated that Jordan will continue to take all necessary steps to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens.
