Electricity Authority: Power and desalination plant attacked, causing damage to its facilities
The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced that one of its power and desalination plants was targeted in an attack resulting from the culpable Iranian aggression, causing damage to the plant’s facilities, igniting a fire, and disabling a large number of power generation units. This necessitated the activation of emergency plans and immediate response measures to mitigate the impact and maintain the stability of the electrical system.
In a statement, the ministry said that the General Fire Force teams immediately responded to the incident, successfully controlling and extinguishing the fire. Meanwhile, technical and emergency teams affiliated with the ministry, in coordination with relevant authorities, implemented necessary technical and precautionary measures to assess the damage, secure the plant, and restore the affected units to service as quickly as possible, while adhering to the highest safety standards.
The ministry emphasized that technical teams are working around the clock to maintain the stability of the electrical system and ensure continuous service, with constant monitoring of electrical grid indicators and taking all necessary measures to minimize any potential impact on the system.
The ministry appealed to citizens and residents to cooperate during this exceptional phase by conserving electricity consumption, as this has a direct impact on supporting the stability of the national electrical system, enabling technical teams to manage the system efficiently, and ensuring continuous service across the country.
It also stressed that public awareness and cooperation under these circumstances constitute an integral part of the national efforts to address the repercussions of this attack, and that every contribution to conserving electricity enhances the electrical system’s capacity to overcome this phase and supports repair and rehabilitation efforts for damaged facilities as swiftly as possible.
