Trump announces immediate declassification of intelligence information related to the elections
U.S. President Donald Trump announced the immediate declassification of documents and intelligence information he described as “decisive,” stating that they reveal shocking vulnerabilities in the U.S. electoral infrastructure and confirm that the electoral system has been subject to unprecedented breaches and foreign interference. Trump affirmed that leaders of U.S. intelligence agencies had personally reviewed the investigation results and acknowledged the accuracy and credibility of the released documents. According to his account, the documents accuse China of carrying out what he termed “the largest election data breach and theft in history,” noting that the operation began in 2020 and involved Beijing gaining access to private information on approximately 20 million Americans. He added that the theft of voter data represents an “unprecedented nightmare” for U.S. election security, claiming that China established a specialized unit to exploit the hacked data and deploy it for disruptive activities. Trump stressed that “no country can be great if its elections are not fair,” and affirmed that his administration is working to build a secure electoral system that makes fraud and interference in elections “practically impossible.”
Accusations Against China
Trump accused the Chinese government of seeking to influence U.S. elections, asserting that intelligence reports indicate that since 2018, the Chinese Communist Party has pursued a policy of supporting any opposition figure with the aim of forcing their resignation. Trump stated that China has been working since mid-2018 to influence the midterm elections and the 2020 presidential election, adding that documents issued by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) reveal Beijing’s efforts to exploit its relationships with major U.S. companies to incite opposition against him. Trump also alleged that the Chinese government sought to recruit American journalists to write negative reports about him, providing them with substantial financial sums to support those efforts.
