Interior Minister to Al-Qabas: Al-Jaleeb is on the brink of a catastrophe... and silence is not an option
While overseeing an extensive security operation in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif, with the participation of the four military entities—the Kuwaiti Army, the Ministry of Interior, the National Guard, and the General Fire Service—alongside seven other agencies, stressed that consolidating the rule of law is a top priority.
In a statement to Al-Qabas, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif affirmed that the Ministry of Interior, represented by all its sectors, continues to implement security plans to clear areas of violations of all kinds. He stated that the Jleeb area is on the brink of a disaster due to accumulated violations, which cannot be ignored, noting that dozens of illegal and dilapidated houses were evacuated during the extensive operation. He emphasized that the campaigns would continue relentlessly.
Regarding the file of illegal labor, Al-Yousif said the Ministry of Interior deals with it daily, deporting those caught violating regulations and holding sponsors accountable for allowing illegal workers to remain. He added that they had granted a humanitarian grace period for illegal workers in the country to either leave or regularize their status. Those who comply with the country’s laws are welcomed, while those who do not will be deported to their home countries without return.
He noted that the issue of illegal labor is a recurring file, but the Ministry of Interior will employ all measures necessary to apprehend violators. He pointed out that in previous periods, the number of deported illegal workers in some months exceeded 6,000 per month, and these campaigns will not cease until the country is free of irregular and illegal labor.
The First Deputy Prime Minister clarified in a press statement yesterday that this operation marks the beginning of a continuous phase, not the end of efforts, and will not be limited to the Jleeb area alone but will extend to all governorates of Kuwait. He stressed that Kuwait’s reputation is a top priority and that safeguarding the security and safety of everyone living on this blessed land is a responsibility that brooks no negligence.
He also highlighted the severity of the dangers he observed in the Jleeb area, resulting from environmental and health pollution. He noted that among the area’s residents are workers employed in hospitals and restaurants, which could facilitate the transmission of diseases to them and, subsequently, to their workplaces, posing a threat to public health.
