Minister of Social Affairs: Integrating persons with disabilities and protecting their rights

Faisal Matar: Dr. Amal Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, and Chair of the National Supreme Committee for the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, affirmed that Kuwait attaches great importance to strengthening and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, in line with the directives of the wise political leadership and its commitment to implementing the provisions of the Convention, and consolidating the principles of equality, equal opportunities, and inclusive integration.

Speaking during the opening of a specialized workshop on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the preparation of an institutional action plan to mainstream disability issues, Al-Huwail stated that the National Supreme Committee, established by a Cabinet decision, plays a pivotal role in coordinating national efforts among government entities and monitoring the implementation of Kuwait’s obligations under the Convention, thereby enhancing joint institutional work and improving the quality of services provided to persons with disabilities. She announced a plan to integrate persons with disabilities and protect their rights.
