Thai Ambassador to Al-Qabas: Kuwaitis in Bangkok safe from fire

May Al-Sukairy: The Thai Ambassador to Kuwait, Songchai Chaipatiyot, confirmed that no Kuwaiti citizens have been reported dead or injured in the fire that broke out at a restaurant in Bangkok, the capital. In a statement to Al-Qabas, he clarified that Kuwaitis in Bangkok are safe from the fire incident, noting that Thai authorities had issued a list of 26 individuals confirmed dead in the blaze, comprising 25 Thai nationals and one foreigner holding Laotian citizenship, and emphasized that the list does not include any Kuwaiti citizens. He added that a specialized Thai agency responsible for assisting foreign tourists also confirmed that no reports or information indicating the presence of Kuwaiti citizens among the victims or injured have been received so far. He affirmed that the embassy is continuously monitoring the developments of the incident with the relevant Thai authorities and will inform the concerned parties of any updates as soon as they are received. A major fire broke out early yesterday (Monday) inside a restaurant in the Chatuchak district of the Thai capital, Bangkok, according to Thai authorities, resulting in the deaths of 27 people and injuring 63 others.
