UAE Defense: Two National Tankers Targeted by Iranian Missiles

The UAE Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that the two national tankers, “Mombasa” and “Bahia,” were targeted by two Iranian anti-ship missiles in the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz in Omani territorial waters. The ministry stated that the attack resulted in the death of one crew member from the “Mombasa,” who was of Indian nationality, and injured eight others, including four with serious injuries (six of Indian nationality and two of Ukrainian nationality). The attack also caused material damage to both tankers due to fires that broke out on board, which have since been brought under control. The Ministry of Defense condemned this blatant attack, describing it as a serious violation and a clear breach of international law that threatens the security and stability of the region. It emphasized that the UAE reserves its full right to respond to this escalation and to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, its people, and residents therein, thereby safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and stability, and protecting its national interests and assets. The ministry expressed that it remains fully prepared and ready to address any threats, and that it is taking all necessary measures to firmly counter any actions aimed at undermining the security and stability of the state.
