US Army announces commencement of strikes against Iran for the third consecutive day

The U.S. Central Command announced on Tuesday that it had begun launching strikes against Iran for the third consecutive night. In a statement, U.S. Central Command said the strikes on Iran would continue to inflict heavy casualties on its forces and undermine its ability to attack innocent civilians and disrupt commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Washington would launch powerful strikes against Iran on the evenings of Monday and Tuesday. In a phone interview with the “Hugh Hewitt Show,” Trump said, “We will hit them very hard tonight and we will hit them hard tomorrow, and there is nothing they can do about it.” He added that “military operations could last from two to three weeks,” emphasizing that Washington would prevail either through negotiations or a military solution. He further stated that “the memorandum of understanding with Iran was a test, and they did not respect it,” although he noted that he could not say whether the ceasefire had ended. Trump also reiterated that Iran cannot acquire a nuclear weapon, saying, “If the Iranians had a nuclear weapon, they would have used it within a day.”
