The Emirati Ambassador: Kuwait holds a special place with us... and our fate is one
Mai Al-Sukari: The UAE Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Mutar Hamed Al-Nuaimi, affirmed that the visit of the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to his brother, Kuwait’s Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, came within the framework of solidarity and support for Kuwait and its resilience in the face of Iran’s brutal aggression. It reflects the depth of the fraternal relations uniting the two countries, both at the leadership and people levels, and the commitment to continuing consultation and joint coordination.
Al-Nuaimi told reporters that Kuwait holds a special place in the hearts of the UAE’s leadership and people, noting that the visit at this juncture underscores shared destiny, the exchange of views and counsel on various issues, and continuous coordination, emphasizing that “our destiny is one.” He added that the UAE and Kuwait are brothers forever, and this visit comes within the context of this enduring brotherhood, the exchange of perspectives and advice, and the enhancement of political coordination between the two leaderships. He pointed out that the UAE and Kuwait are bound by deep-rooted relations spanning decades, and that the brotherhood between the two nations will remain a fundamental pillar in confronting various challenges.
On Gulf coordination, in response to a question about coordination between the two countries in international forums, Al-Nuaimi clarified that “consultation and coordination continue across various levels.” He noted that “the Kingdom of Bahrain, in its capacity as the Arab representative on the UN Security Council, has introduced draft resolutions against Iran’s brutal aggression, and these drafts are being consulted and coordinated on with all regional countries. Joint statements have also been issued since the beginning of the crisis to reject Iranian aggression and its hostile practices toward regional states.” He added that this coordination, consultation, communication, and contact continue at various levels, which is not surprising but stems from the keenness of the two brotherly countries to strengthen the Gulf position and unify shared visions in the region regarding regional issues, thereby contributing to consolidating security and stability in the region.
Regarding the reception accorded to the UAE President upon his arrival in Kuwait, Al-Nuaimi said: “This step is not unusual. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed holds a special place in the heart of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and in the heart of Kuwait’s political leadership, just as is the case in the UAE. Kuwait’s political leadership, as well as the Kuwaiti government and people, hold a special place in the hearts of the UAE’s leadership and people. He emphasized that bilateral relations are based on mutual love, respect, shared history, and common destiny.”
He noted that the idea of establishing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) originated in Kuwait and the UAE, and was subsequently supported by the other GCC member states, reflecting the depth of the historical partnership between the two countries. He prayed to God for the continuation of this coordination and communication, noting that joy over this fraternal visit spread across Abu Dhabi and Kuwait. Al-Nuaimi stressed that “the UAE President is the first leader to visit Kuwait since the onset of Iran’s brutal aggression against regional states.”
On security coordination, the UAE ambassador affirmed that security cooperation among GCC states is permanent, stemming from shared security and destiny. He clarified that any threat targeting Kuwait constitutes a threat to the UAE, and vice versa, as well as to the other GCC states. He added that the GCC system has enhanced coordination across various security, military, economic, health, and other fields, contributing to the enhancement and unification of visions and the exchange of expertise to serve the common interests of the Gulf states.
Al-Nuaimi concluded his statement by praying for peace, security, and stability to prevail in the Gulf region and the world, emphasizing that communication between the leaderships of Kuwait and the UAE will remain a fundamental pillar for enhancing Gulf solidarity and confronting shared challenges.
