Axios: No US strikes on Iran today due to de-escalation efforts

Axios reported that the US military’s decision not to carry out any new strikes against Iran on Thursday was the result of efforts to de-escalate tensions. The outlet noted that Qatar, Pakistan, and other regional mediators are working to ease tensions between the United States and Iran and to revive negotiations on the nuclear deal. It added that mediators believe Iran’s recent attacks in the Strait of Hormuz were orchestrated by elements within the Iranian regime who oppose the path of understanding and seek to undermine de-escalation efforts.
