Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry, Marwa Al-Juaidan, confirmed that the launch of the ministry’s new website and its unified digital portal for services marks a new step in the digital transformation journey. The portal aggregates hundreds of electronic services covering more than 99 percent of the total services offered by the ministry’s sectors and departments.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Juaidan stated that the unified digital portal embodies the ministry’s orientation toward providing a more convenient, faster, and integrated government experience for individuals, business owners, and government entities. She added that the ministry aims to leverage technology, artificial intelligence, government integration, and digital data to build a comprehensive experience that aligns with Kuwait’s aspirations and enhances the efficiency of the business environment, as well as oversight and transparency levels.
Al-Juaidan noted that the portal features electronic integration with dozens of government entities through direct linking and via the Google Apigee platform, under the patronage of the Central Agency for Information Technology. This integration helps streamline procedures, accelerate transaction processing, improve service quality, and support the business environment in the State of Kuwait.
She clarified that the ministry’s digital transformation is not limited to digitizing services but extends to redesigning the user journey and linking services, data, and relevant entities within an integrated digital experience. The system allows users to initiate and track their transactions and access related services through a unified platform, in addition to integrating with the Unified Government Application for Electronic Services (Sahel).
Al-Juaidan further mentioned that the ministry is also leveraging artificial intelligence technologies in collaboration with Microsoft, including the ministry’s smart assistant. This assistant aims to help business owners and visitors identify services, requirements, and procedures, start business activities, submit applications, and track them more easily and effectively.
She pointed out that the digital transformation also includes developing an electronic system for submitting company budgets and financial statements through the XBRL standard, which enhances the quality and accuracy of financial data, accelerates audit and analysis processes, and strengthens transparency and oversight. Al-Juaidan added that this system provides a more organized, analyzable financial database that can be utilized to support decision-making.
