The Criminal Court, presided over by Advisor Nasser Al-Badr and with judges Abdulaziz Al-Muqdad and Abdulhadi Al-Hajjari, and clerk Yaqoub Al-Balam, handed down a life sentence to a drug dealer who was apprehended by the Anti-Narcotics Department during an ambush, with quantities of hashish and psychoactive substances in his possession for trafficking and personal use. The prosecution leveled several charges against him, including possession of a narcotic substance with intent to traffic. The court upheld the legality of the arrest and search procedures, rejecting the defendant’s defense that the procedures were invalid.

In a separate ruling, the court sentenced a Bangladeshi national to death for killing his friend in retaliation for his wife’s reputation. The prosecution charged him with multiple offenses, including possession of a narcotic substance with intent to traffic. According to the prosecution, the defendant deliberately and premeditatedly murdered the victim after he posted private photos of his wife on a social media platform, Facebook, and refused the defendant’s demand to delete them. Resolute in his intent to kill, the defendant retrieved a knife and ambushed the victim as he exited a location at his workplace, which he had previously confirmed the victim would be at. As soon as he caught up with him, he repeatedly stabbed him in the head and body with the aforementioned bladed weapon, intending to take his life. The victim sustained the injuries described in the forensic pathology report, which ultimately caused his death, as detailed in the investigation records.
