Kuwait: Support for Qatar's Measures to Protect Its Security and Interests

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack targeting the Al-Ma’idah liquefied natural gas carrier, owned by QatarEnergy LNG Shipping, as it transited the waters of the Arabian Gulf. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s unequivocal rejection of such acts, which pose a serious threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and to global energy supplies. The Ministry stressed the necessity of respecting the rules of international law and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation and the safety of ships and their crews, warning of the potential environmental and economic risks of targeting energy tankers and the serious repercussions such actions could have on the security and stability of the region. It underscored the importance of uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident, identifying those responsible, and holding them accountable, while renewing Kuwait’s full solidarity with Qatar and its support for Qatar, as well as backing all measures taken by Qatar to safeguard its security and interests and to protect the safety of its facilities and assets.
