The Commercial Bank of Kuwait concluded the activities of its “Ya Zein Turathna” (Our Heritage is Beautiful) campaign for 2026 in its fifteenth edition at the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), recalling the campaign’s key milestones aimed at highlighting authentic Kuwaiti heritage and strengthening the connection of new generations with the customs and traditions that form part of the national identity.
In a statement on this occasion, Amal Yousef Al-Waraa, Deputy General Manager of the Corporate Communications Sector at the bank, said: “This year’s campaign was held under the slogan ‘From the Kut to Kuwait,’ which embodies a journey through time to showcase the features of life in the past, with the fragrance of authentic Kuwaiti heritage in its unique components and elements, including customs, traditions, professions, markets, and folk games that formed an essential part of the lives of fathers and grandfathers.”
She added: “We are proud of the ‘Ya Zein Turathna’ campaign, which reflects the bank’s commitment to highlighting Kuwaiti heritage and enhancing its presence among new generations. Through this campaign, ‘Al-Tijari’ seeks to present heritage in an interactive manner that links the past with the present, highlighting how the journey of development contributed to building modern Kuwait without losing its connection to its authentic legacy.”
The final stop of the campaign crowned a series of diverse activities and events organized by the bank, including field visits to several schools, universities, and diwaniyas (traditional social gatherings). These visits provided students with the opportunity to learn about aspects of Kuwaiti folk heritage through an interactive approach that combines knowledge and entertainment.
The bank also recalled the checkers tournament held as part of the campaign activities, celebrating a popular folk game that represents an authentic aspect of Kuwaiti heritage. The game helps evoke the social atmosphere of the past and introduces new generations to traditional inherited games.
The event at GUST featured the “Commercial Bank Diwaniya,” which recreated the ambiance of traditional Kuwaiti diwaniyas and allowed students to participate in several folk games, including checkers and kireem, in an experience aimed at bringing folk heritage closer to youth and highlighting its cultural and social value.
Amal Al-Waraa added that preserving national heritage is a responsibility that requires concerted efforts to pass down authentic customs and traditions to future generations and to reinforce pride in Kuwaiti identity, ensuring that this legacy remains present in the collective consciousness of society.
She concluded her remarks by extending her thanks to all who contributed to the success of the campaign, which received widespread approval and engagement from the public during field visits and activities, as well as through electronic interaction and communication from followers of the bank’s social media accounts. This positive response motivates us to continue our efforts to nurture and revive Kuwaiti heritage.
