Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaili, announced the qualification of 300 Kuwaiti youth in three modern technical specialties, with 100 students per specialty, to support the cooperative sector, in collaboration with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET). In a press statement, she said, “The joint cooperation with PAAET has resulted in the enrollment of this new cohort to meet labor market needs,” noting that the specialties are the Technical Diploma in “Smart Building Systems,” the Technical Diploma in “Mechatronics,” and the Technical Diploma in “Sustainability.” She added that this step is part of the Social Affairs Ministry’s strategy to enhance the policy of “Kuwaitization,” link educational outcomes to labor market needs, and open new career opportunities for Kuwaiti youth to work in cooperative societies and technical fields. Al-Huwaili stressed that real investment in Kuwaiti youth begins with qualifying them in required specialties, affirming the continued cooperation with PAAET to develop national competencies and enhance their employment opportunities, thereby contributing to raising the efficiency of the cooperative sector and achieving sustainability in its operations.

On another note, Minister Al-Huwaili held discussions with the president and board members of the Kuwait Blind Association regarding ways to develop services provided to visually impaired persons and strengthen their empowerment in educational, professional, and social fields. In a press statement, she affirmed her commitment to supporting the association’s efforts and enabling it to fulfill its humanitarian and social mission, emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships with civil society institutions and overcoming challenges faced by visually impaired persons to facilitate their integration. Al-Huwaili explained that supporting and empowering persons with disabilities is a priority, affirming that she would spare no effort in reviewing proposed initiatives and following up with relevant authorities to arrive at practical solutions that contribute to developing services and meeting the needs of the blind. The statement noted that the meeting addressed the key challenges facing the association and its members, along with several initiatives and proposals aimed at developing services and programs provided to the blind, enhancing their independence, and improving their quality of life.
