Vienna – Agencies: International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi announced that there are no indications that Iranian authorities have attempted to repair or rebuild their nuclear facilities damaged by US and Israeli military strikes during this year or last. Amid expectations of new US strikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites and Israeli accusations that Iran is rebuilding its facilities, Grossi stated, “Since June 2025, we have not observed any activity to repair or rebuild any of the facilities damaged by military attacks in 2025 and 2026.” During a meeting of the UN Security Council, he also urged Iran to allow international inspectors access to all nuclear sites, including those damaged by military attacks. US President Donald Trump had previously affirmed that one of the main reasons for the US entry into war with Iran on February 28 was to deprive Tehran of the ability to develop nuclear weapons, despite his assertion that US strikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites in June 2025 “completely destroyed” Iran’s nuclear program. It is worth noting that the IAEA has been unable to verify the status of Iran’s stockpile of uranium enriched to levels approaching those required for nuclear weapons since the US bombed Iranian nuclear sites last year.
