The Kuwaiti Competition Protection Authority delegation, led by Dr. Rashid Shabib Al-Ajmi, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Head of the Authority, is participating in the Seventh Arab Competition Forum, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on October 28–29, 2026, under the theme “Competition Policy in the Digital Age: Ensuring Fairness and Equality in the Market.” The forum is convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Competition Department of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism of the UAE, and in cooperation with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The forum serves as a platform to examine competition developments in the Arab region and advance their enhancement through the engagement of relevant stakeholders. It provides a shared space for dialogue, coordination, and cooperation on competition matters at both the national and regional levels, with participation from representatives of competition authorities, government officials, and international and regional organizations.
This year’s forum focuses on the theme “Competition Policy in the Digital Age: Ensuring Fairness and Equality in the Market,” and discusses prospects for fair, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth by strengthening the application of competition policy in digital and data-driven markets, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The participation of the Kuwaiti Competition Protection Authority offers a valuable opportunity to showcase Kuwait’s experience and exchange expertise in this field. The sessions will address several topics, including proactive regulation and competition in digital markets, developing a coherent digital competition policy through regional cooperation, monitoring mergers in the digital sector, and institutional coordination between competition and consumer protection in the digital age, as well as next steps toward fair and competitive digital markets in the Arab region.
