Saudi Minister of Energy and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, affirmed that energy security requires more flexible systems, continuous investments, and reliable partnerships capable of confronting challenges and ensuring the continuity of supplies. During his participation in the 2026 Singapore International Energy Week, the minister emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with Singapore and the Kingdom’s partners in Asia, thereby supporting energy security and shared prosperity. He stated that the repercussions of the current crisis are not confined to the region; disruptions to energy infrastructure and supply routes have impacts on households, businesses, and economies worldwide. He added, “The lesson learned is clear: resilience must be built before it is needed. This means the ability to continue operations, redirect supplies, and recover quickly amid disruptions, which requires continuous investments, qualified human capital, and partners willing to work together.”

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman noted that Saudi Arabia has invested over decades in enhancing its readiness to face such conditions. Storage facilities, pipelines linking eastern and western Saudi Arabia, domestic supply chains, alongside the expertise and dedication of the Kingdom’s energy sector workforce, have bolstered its capacity to respond to disruptions. He confirmed that despite these difficult circumstances, Saudi Arabia has continued to honor its commitments and ensure reliable energy supplies to global markets, demonstrating the practical application of resilience. At the same time, the Kingdom continues to invest in maintaining and expanding its oil production capacity, as well as expanding into gas, renewable energy, and electricity networks, to meet growing demand and enhance the reliability of Saudi Arabia’s energy system.

He clarified that this year’s theme of the Singapore International Energy Week, “Connecting Energy Systems and Powering Tomorrow,” comes at a highly significant time, as energy security depends on the resilience of the entire system and on partnerships that remain steadfast and reliable even under pressure. He pointed out that for Asian economies, reliable energy supplies support industrial development, boost investor confidence, and help sustain economic prosperity. He noted that Singapore is an important partner for Saudi Arabia in this regard; thanks to its strengths in refining, trading, shipping, and logistics, it plays a pivotal role in the Asian energy system.
