UK reopens the "Brexit" file

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer yesterday opened the door to reconsidering one of the most sensitive aspects of Brexit, after signaling willingness to discuss a return to freedom of movement rules with the European bloc, noting that migration patterns to the United Kingdom have fundamentally changed since the implementation of Brexit. Starmer said that migration to Britain has become “different” from what it was before the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, explaining that a larger number of arrivals are settling permanently in the country, rather than working for temporary periods and then returning to their home countries, as was the case under the European freedom of movement system.
