The National Cybersecurity Authority and Kuwait Telecommunications Company (stc), the leading enabler of digital transformation and provider of innovative services and platforms for customers in Kuwait, announced the launch of a national cybersecurity awareness campaign. This campaign is part of national efforts to foster a more secure digital environment by raising awareness of digital risks and cyber fraud, and by encouraging safe practices when using digital services and platforms.
Designed within the framework of stc’s corporate social responsibility and its strategy to support the community, the campaign was developed in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Authority. Its aim is to enhance public awareness by delivering protective information in a simplified and effective manner. The campaign targeted employees working across various state institutions and government sectors. It included the launch of opinion polls to assess their cybersecurity awareness using the KnowBe4 cybersecurity awareness platform and to measure awareness levels. Additionally, the campaign featured awareness messages addressing scenarios users may encounter in their daily lives, helping them better recognize potential risks and understand the steps they can take to protect themselves.
The campaign combines educational content, live activities, and interactive digital experiences, supported by electronic campaigns across approved digital and advertising channels to reach a wider audience.
For its part, the National Cybersecurity Authority emphasized the importance of awareness in this field, describing it as a fundamental pillar for protecting individuals and institutions. It noted that enhancing knowledge of digital risks and how to handle them helps people make more informed decisions when using technology and reduces the likelihood of falling victim to cyber fraud. The Authority added that awareness is a shared responsibility requiring the combined efforts of government entities and the private sector, and that delivering simplified content related to situations individuals face in their daily lives helps transform knowledge into safe practices that contribute to protecting their data and privacy. The Authority is committed to supporting initiatives and partnerships that promote cybersecurity culture, raise awareness among various segments of society, and contribute to strengthening a more secure digital environment.
As part of this collaboration, the National Cybersecurity Authority defined the campaign’s overall direction, main themes, and target audience, and approved the awareness content and messages. The Authority will also oversee the campaign’s implementation and measure its impact. Meanwhile, stc, in coordination with the National Cybersecurity Authority, will provide the necessary platform and interactive tools for the campaign, manage the experiences and activities, and support the distribution of awareness content through relevant channels.
In a statement, Kuwait Telecommunications Company clarified that the awareness campaign included presence at various high-traffic gathering locations across Kuwait. The company was present at the Ministries Complex, Khiran Mall, and the Capital Complex during different periods throughout the campaign.
stc stated: “Our participation in this national campaign reflects the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote a safer digital culture in society. As a provider of telecommunications services and digital solutions, we have a responsibility to leverage our capabilities and digital platforms for the benefit of the community. Working alongside the National Cybersecurity Authority allows us to contribute to making cybersecurity awareness more accessible, while addressing the situations that individuals in Kuwait face in their daily lives.”
She added: “At stc, we believe that cybersecurity awareness is the first line of defense against many digital risks. Technology continues to play an increasingly important role in our daily lives, making it more imperative than ever for users to understand how to identify potential threats and adopt safer digital practices. Building a more secure digital environment requires ongoing collaboration among national entities, the private sector, and members of society. Kuwait Telecommunications Company will continue to support efforts that help users interact with digital services with greater awareness and confidence.” This collaboration underscores the importance of coordination between the public and private sectors in supporting national cybersecurity efforts and strengthening shared responsibility for protecting the digital community. In particular, as the use of digital services continues to expand, raising public awareness and encouraging safe browsing and internet usage habits will help individuals engage with technology more confidently and better understand the risks they may encounter.
