The Al-Baraka Hall hosted the cultural day of the Kingdom of Eswatini, organized by the International Women’s Group in Kuwait in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The event was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Temaswati Dlamini, along with several ambassadors, diplomatic corps members, and prominent social figures. The evening aimed to introduce Eswatini’s heritage, culture, and traditions, enhance communication and understanding among peoples, and explore new horizons for cultural and economic cooperation between Kuwait and Eswatini.

The hall was decorated with the colors of the Eswatini flag. The program featured cultural and heritage activities that reflected the kingdom’s national identity, alongside presentations on its tourism potential and investment opportunities. Traditional Eswatini dishes were prepared and served, and competitions were held with prizes awarded to winners. The atmosphere reflected the richness of Eswatini’s cultural heritage and the participants’ eagerness to exchange experiences and learn about other peoples’ customs and traditions.

Princess Temaswati Dlamini emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the State of Kuwait, and developing areas of joint cooperation to serve mutual interests and open broader avenues for partnership. She stressed that international relations are based on mutual respect, equality in sovereignty, and peaceful coexistence. She explained that dialogue, mutual trust, and practical cooperation are essential elements for building sustainable friendships between nations, noting that geographical distance and different historical experiences do not prevent the establishment of solid partnerships based on common ground, with a focus on achieving tangible results that benefit peoples.

She underscored the importance of international cooperation, humanitarian aid, and partnerships based on mutual benefit, as well as supporting efforts to consolidate peace and sustainable development. She affirmed that cultural encounters provide opportunities to learn about peoples’ identities and heritage, and to enhance understanding and communication among them.

Expressing her happiness at returning to Kuwait, which she described as a second home, she noted that she first came to the country at the age of nineteen and lived there until she turned thirty. This made her current visit an opportunity to relive important memories and reconnect with people with whom she shares old relationships and friendships. She added that she returned this time accompanied by her husband and children.

She called for enhancing mutual visits and cultural exchange between the two countries, and for encouraging Kuwaitis to visit Eswatini to learn about its cultural and natural assets, thereby expanding communication channels and opening new horizons for cooperation in business, economy, and social fields.

In a press statement, Princess Temaswati Dlamini affirmed that empowering women and enhancing their presence in leadership positions is an important issue witnessing growing development. She encouraged Kuwaiti women to continue advancing and striving to assume more leadership roles and participate in decision-making. She highlighted the importance of self-confidence and attention to personal presentation when women showcase their capabilities and ideas, explaining that a first impression may help open doors for others to recognize their potential, but sustained success requires perseverance and the development of skills and competencies.

She pointed out that Eswatini society is increasingly moving toward enhancing women’s participation in public life, including in parliament, the private sector, and executive positions, as part of efforts to expand their opportunities for leadership and contribution to development.

She expressed her anticipation for developing cooperation with Kuwait in the fields of business, women’s empowerment, and cultural exchange, emphasizing the importance of direct communication between women in both countries and the sharing of successful experiences and expertise, which would help broaden professional and social horizons and enhance women’s participation across various sectors. She added that travel and exposure to diverse cultures and experiences enable women to encounter varied models of leadership and community engagement, thereby strengthening their aspirations and capacity to develop their potential. She expressed hope that her visit, which lasts approximately ten days, would contribute to strengthening her ties with Kuwaiti society and building new bridges for cultural and economic cooperation, particularly with women leaders.

For her part, Senator Lokan Nakximalo affirmed that women’s empowerment and the enhancement of their participation in leadership, government, and decision-making constitute fundamental pillars for building a more inclusive and equitable society, stressing the importance of developing legislation and policies that ensure equal opportunities in political, economic, and social spheres. She explained that parliament plays a pivotal role in supporting women’s development through enacting legislation, improving public policies, and representing citizens, alongside creating an enabling environment for women to assume leadership positions and participate actively in government and public institutions. She added that enhancing women’s participation requires expanding their access to education, healthcare, and employment, as well as facilitating their access to land, resources, and financing, thereby supporting their economic independence and helping them establish and develop enterprises.

She noted that difficulty in accessing financing remains a challenge for women entrepreneurs, necessitating the development of financial instruments, guarantees, and credit facilities, as well as providing more inclusive and responsive financing mechanisms tailored to the needs of women-led businesses. She stressed the need to address gender-based discrimination and remove barriers that hinder the achievement of equal opportunities and representation, highlighting the importance of the role of parliamentary committees concerned with women’s affairs in monitoring challenges, listening to women’s needs, and contributing to the formulation of more inclusive policies.
