Riyadh-Aden-Agencies: The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority announced that the number of fatalities from the attack on King Fahd Airport in Dammam on Wednesday rose to two, a Saudi citizen and an Indian resident. The Authority stated in a statement yesterday that the number of injured reached eight, comprising Saudi, Yemeni, Nepalese, and Indian nationals. It confirmed the resumption of operational activities at Dammam Airport, noting that air traffic has returned to normal. The Authority had previously indicated that injuries ranged from minor to severe, adding that the injured were immediately transported to hospitals to receive necessary medical care. It also added that the attack resulted in material damages that are being assessed. This comes as the "Yemen's Dawn" operation continues between Yemeni forces and Houthi militias for about three weeks. The Houthi militias had previously launched an attack on Riyadh Airport on the 10th of this month, resulting in the death of 13 people and injuring others. Meanwhile, a senior source in the Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed that air defenses intercepted a drone on Wednesday, which attempted to target a facility at the Shaybah oil field belonging to Saudi Aramco in the Eastern Province. The source also stated that the interception efforts led to a fire in a vehicle belonging to a contractor working at the field, outside the facility's perimeter, without affecting operational activities. In the same context, the source clarified that competent authorities began dealing with the incident and taking necessary measures, resulting in the deaths of two residents, one Filipino and one Nepalese, and injuries to two residents, one Pakistani and one Indian. In a related development, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Colonel Majid Al-Nazili, announced that the Houthi militia targeted Al-Rayyan International Airport in Al-Mukalla, Hadhramaut Governorate, for the fourth time. Colonel Al-Nazili affirmed in a statement that targeting airports constitutes an attack on the Yemeni people's capabilities and aims to impose a siege on them. For his part, Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, stated that the Houthi group's targeting of Aden International Airport and Al-Rayyan Civil Airport on Wednesday reveals the group's nature and confirms its ongoing threat to civilians and vital infrastructure in Yemen. During his meeting with ambassadors of several countries accredited to Yemen, Al-Alimi addressed the Houthi escalation, pointing to the targeting of Aden and Al-Rayyan airports, along with attacks on residential areas and other civilian facilities. He affirmed that targeting civil airports and residential neighborhoods, and depriving residents of basic services, reveals the group's nature and demonstrates the use of civilians, the interests of peoples, and regional security as tools for extortion, warning that dealing with these threats without decisive measures gives the group an opportunity to commit further violations.
