The Public Authority for Combating Corruption (Nizaha) launched a three-day training program on “The Role of the Authority and Its Competencies” to enhance integrity and combat corruption, involving 20 government entities and targeting supervisors within these entities. In a press statement, Nizaha said the program is part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of integrity, strengthen the principles of transparency and accountability in government bodies, and raise awareness of the importance of preventing and combating corruption.

The authority added that the program reflects its commitment to clarifying its role and competencies, enhancing cooperation with government entities, and contributing to the integration of efforts aimed at protecting public funds and consolidating trust in institutional work. It marks the launch of a series of training programs designed to meet the needs of various entities and inviting government bodies to participate.

The program covers the authority’s role and competencies, concepts of integrity and anti-corruption, the importance of preventing corruption, enhancing professional responsibility, and the role of employees in government entities in reinforcing principles of integrity and transparency. It also aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge regarding legal frameworks and procedures related to combating corruption.

Nizaha emphasized that the program is specifically targeted at supervisors, given their role in guiding teams, enhancing commitment in the workplace, and supporting the implementation of supervisory and preventive measures within their entities. It confirmed that a similar program will be held for the executive category in government entities in February next year.

The program’s first day will discuss the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the law establishing Nizaha, its objectives, tasks, and competencies, as well as its role at the international level. It will also cover asset declaration forms, the categories subject to them, the mechanism and deadlines for submitting declarations, procedures related to their review, and associated penalties.

Furthermore, the program will explain the crimes criminalized under the law establishing Nizaha, mechanisms for monitoring and receiving reports, procedures for protecting and rewarding whistleblowers. It will highlight the importance of familiarizing participants with these aspects to enhance their understanding of established channels and procedures, the importance of reporting and cooperation in supporting the authority’s anti-corruption efforts, and the role of prevention in strengthening integrity and transparency, along with introducing anti-corruption prevention methods.

The authority affirmed its aim to build broader institutional knowledge regarding its competencies and related legislation, and to empower participants to contribute to raising awareness within their entities and supporting practices that enhance integrity and safeguard public funds.

It noted that participation is open to those interested in attending upcoming training programs to be implemented during the current month until February 2027, with the goal of expanding the reach and accessing the largest possible segment of government employees.

The upcoming training programs will include sessions on the Law on the Right to Access Information, the Law on Conflict of Interest, the Code of Conduct for Public Employees, and professional ethics, as well as a program on enhancing integrity and combating financial and administrative corruption, and a program on corporate governance.
