Under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics successfully apprehended a Turkish national truck driver in possession of 300,000 tablets of Captagon, with a market value exceeding half a million Kuwaiti dinars. The operation was conducted in the presence of Brigadier General Fahad Al-Badr, Head of the Criminal Security Sector, and Brigadier General Mohammed Qabazard, Director General of the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics, along with Brigadier General Hamad Al-Sabah, Assistant Director General of the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics.

The arrest took place in the Kabd area following investigative efforts, during which the narcotic tablets were discovered hidden in a concealed manner inside the truck’s spare tire, using insulating material to mask them. The General Fire Department was called upon to cut open the tire and extract the seized items.

Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to transporting the tablets from a neighboring country through a border crossing while entering Kuwait on a transit visa aboard the truck he was driving. Coordination was established with the narcotics control agency in the suspect’s country of origin, and the suspect and the seized drugs were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions.

Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef affirmed that security agencies remain committed to dismantling drug smuggling networks, countering all their methods, and pursuing those involved without leniency. He emphasized that protecting society and its members from this scourge is a top security priority, and that any attempts to smuggle drugs into the country will be met with firm measures.
