Khaled Muhammad Al-Mughams visits Fahd Ghazi Al-Abduljalil to review his rare historical documents.

Translated by Qiyas from النهار — Original source

By gracious invitation, I had the honor on the evening of Sunday, October 18, 2026, of paying a fraternal visit to the home of Fahd Ghazi Al-Abduljalil, a passionate specialist in Kuwaiti heritage. The purpose of the visit was to examine the historical archive he possesses, comprising important documents and manuscripts, some of which he informed me he had purchased with his own funds. In my view, what I witnessed at Brother Fahd’s home represents a portion of a national treasure that I do not believe the Kuwait National Museum or the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters possesses. Some of the documents I saw hold significant political, social, and cultural value, and could be utilized to address certain claims and allegations that occasionally arise regarding the history of the State of Kuwait.

Brother Fahd Al-Abduljalil is part of a group of fellow enthusiasts dedicated to Kuwaiti heritage, united under the Kuwait Heritage Association. These individuals undoubtedly require greater support and attention from the government, as they are engaged in an exemplary national endeavor, driven solely by patriotic zeal to preserve the country’s heritage and values. Brother Fahd Al-Abduljalil and those like him work with sincere love for this homeland. From the tone of his voice, I sensed his disappointment at the lack of adequate support from officials for the preservation of national heritage, which is often reduced to mere promises scattered here and there.

There is an urgent need to raise national awareness about our heritage, particularly among the current generation of youth, who are largely unaware of their country’s history and of the sacrifices made by the pioneering generation under the harshest living conditions to protect this nation. Therefore, caring for and preserving our heritage is essential to safeguarding our identity and values, which we have lived and continue to live, and which I consider top priorities, especially given the state’s sincere efforts to restore the true demographic identity of the homeland. Is there anyone to respond? I sincerely hope so!
