The Extraordinary General Assembly of the Boxing Federation, held the day before yesterday at the federation’s headquarters in Sabah Al-Salem, approved the federation’s statutes in alignment with those of the International Boxing Association (IBA), paving the way for the Kuwaiti federation to join the global boxing system and opening broader horizons for national teams to participate in international championships and competitions. The assembly was attended by Federation Board of Directors Chairman Abdullah Al-Otaibi, General Secretary Mutlaq Al-Azmi, and Assistant Treasurer Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi. The move to join IBA received unanimous approval from the assembly members.
This step is part of the board’s strategy to expand the federation’s international participation and strengthen ties between Kuwaiti boxing and major global bodies, positively impacting the technical level of national teams and players by providing greater opportunities for international exposure and experience through competitions that bring together elite boxers worldwide.
For his part, Al-Otaibi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the assembly members for their attendance, support, and unanimous approval to join IBA, commending their commitment to backing the board’s plans aimed at developing the sport and elevating its standards in the coming period. He emphasized that participation in IBA championships and competitions will constitute a significant technical addition to Kuwaiti boxing, as it offers opportunities for international engagement, exposure to diverse boxing styles, and competition against some of the world’s top boxers, thereby helping to raise players’ levels and enhance their technical and competitive capabilities.
