Kuwait-France Summit Today

French President Emmanuel Macron and the accompanying official delegation arrive in the country today (Monday) for an official visit, during which he will hold formal talks with His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The visit is expected to focus on ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop the partnership between the two countries across various fields, as well as to discuss regional and international developments, foremost among them the security of the Strait of Hormuz, freedom of maritime navigation, and the security of energy supplies. The visit holds particular significance amid current regional circumstances and their repercussions on Gulf security and global markets, as well as its coincidence with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and France, an occasion that presents an opportunity to enhance cooperation and build upon the historical foundation of bilateral ties. The visit is part of a Gulf tour by the French President, which includes Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar from October 19 to 21, aimed at strengthening political, economic, and security partnerships with the countries of the region, discussing ways to restore stability and ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, securing energy supplies and diversifying their sources and transport routes, and mitigating the impact of the regional crisis on global markets and the economy.
