"Our boat is one"

Qiyas summary

Readers call for public participation, correcting the ministry's mistakes, and utilizing secondary lands in Howain.

Translated by Qiyas from النهار — Original source

The selection of government members in all countries does not imply that they are the smartest among their people; indeed, there are citizens who are smarter, more knowledgeable, and more cultured than them. This applies to the members of our government, with due respect and appreciation for them. Therefore, when we seek to share our views with them, we consider ourselves as their reflective mirror and the complementary arm of their work. It is essential that they respond to us, as the people, to understand the general direction and public mood before issuing their laws, without any doubt about their activities and efforts in the public interest. Since our ministers number no more than twenty Kuwaitis, logic and reason dictate that consulting and benefiting from the opinions of more than a million and a half such individuals would broaden their vision and insight far beyond what they can observe. We are in the same boat, not in separate ones.

****** - Khowaiyan Secondary School - Why doesn’t the government invest in the land of Khowaiyan Secondary School, offer it for sale through vouchers, assign it to Plot No. 8, or merge it with Plot No. 1, instead of neglecting it in this manner for many years without utilizing it or many other state lands that could be revitalized by building new schools for future generations, creating public parks, or pursuing any other suitable development, rather than remaining in the same state of neglect and eyesore for years to come.

****** - Hasty Decision - Undoubtedly, correcting the erroneous situation regarding the transfer of teachers and female teachers, which is commendable, is required. Since the Ministry of Education itself approved the transfers and maintained the disparity in their total numbers, and was not fair in distributing them among schools and classrooms, the fundamental responsibility for the error lies with the Ministry, with no blame falling on the teachers and female teachers. When correcting the mistakes of former leadership, current leaders should have been expected to provide sufficient opportunity and consider their circumstances until adapting to the new situation, making it the optimal solution that satisfies all parties. However, as the saying goes, “When the opportunity has passed, no amount of shouting will bring it back.”

****** Keep a distance between you and the one you cherish, so that he preserves your place while you preserve his. Do not say, “The middle is beyond it, a few steps away from the door of the middle.”

****** O God, protect Kuwait, its people, and its leadership from all evil and harm.
