Cairo (Agencies): Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that geopolitical changes in the region are profound and will have wide-ranging repercussions, affirming that Egypt and Saudi Arabia represent two fundamental pillars in the Arab and Islamic worlds. During a ceremony marking the 2026 graduation day of the Police Academy at its headquarters in New Cairo yesterday, al-Sisi stressed that “the security of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Arab Gulf states is interconnected,” reiterating Cairo’s rejection of any infringement on the security or borders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as its rejection of threats to the security of the Red Sea and international sea lanes, while calling for de-escalation and the preservation of stability. He pointed to risks along Egypt’s southern and western borders, affirming that Egypt has made efforts to prevent the outbreak of conflict in Sudan, and that the stability of Sudan, Libya, and the Gaza Strip is essential for Egyptian and Arab national security. President al-Sisi also affirmed that, in his meetings and communications with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since 2014, he has emphasized that the establishment of a Palestinian state would benefit everyone and create the conditions for establishing lasting peace and stability in the region. The ceremony featured training and combat demonstrations by Police Academy students, displays of police vehicles and special task force equipment, as well as a command transfer ceremony and a loyalty oath. President al-Sisi also awarded excellence medals to top graduates, and the event concluded with the playing of the Martyr’s Salute in honor of the sacrifices of the nation’s sons.
