Riyadh (Agencies): Khalid al-Yaqoobi, the official spokesperson for the Iraqi Presidency, affirmed that all Iraqi leaders recognize the importance of relations with Saudi Arabia, stressing that the partnership between the two countries yields benefits beyond Baghdad and Riyadh. In an interview with Al Arabiya, al-Yaqoobi stated, “All Iraqi leadership is aware of the importance of the relationship with Saudi Arabia,” emphasizing that the Iraqi-Saudi partnership serves not only the interests of the two countries. He clarified that Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zoubaidi’s visit to Riyadh comes at a sensitive time, amid serious escalation in the region. The Iraqi Presidential spokesperson underscored that dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Iraq at this stage is “very important.”

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government, in exclusive statements to Al Arabiya, expressed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia in light of the attacks it has been facing, reiterating the importance of cooperation between the two countries. The Iraqi government noted that it has made significant progress in securing the domestic situation, affirming that the coming phase will witness substantial security cooperation with Saudi Arabia.

Al-Yaqoobi’s remarks and the Iraqi government’s statements coincided with al-Zoubaidi’s visit to Saudi Arabia, where he was received on Wednesday by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman at the Royal Diwan in Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. According to an official statement issued regarding the meeting, the two sides discussed regional developments and ways to coordinate efforts to address them, thereby enhancing the security and stability of the region.
