Occupied Jerusalem – Washington – Agencies: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu renewed his warnings about the Iranian threat to Israel. In an interview with Israel’s Army Radio yesterday, Netanyahu said, “Our enemies want to attack us during these days… Iran’s arms are seeking to launch missiles and carry out offensive operations.” He stated that he opposes launching a preemptive strike on Tehran at the current time, ahead of the elections, but affirmed that “within the next two years, I will eliminate Hamas and Hezbollah and bring down Iran.”

He considered that his government and the Israeli forces had completed 90% of the required work on open fronts to establish security.

Meanwhile, the Israeli prime minister reiterated his rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state. Netanyahu told Israel’s right-wing Channel 14 that “what has happened in the West Bank is a miracle of the region that was supposed to become a Palestinian state will not become one today; it will not happen, because we will not allow it,” according to his remarks.

Netanyahu, who has been wanted by the International Criminal Court since 2024 on charges of war crimes in Gaza, claimed that “if the opposition wins, it will establish a Palestinian state and withdraw from Lebanon and Gaza, and will take no action against Iran.” When the channel’s presenter said, “Perhaps we can establish a Palestinian state in Uganda,” Netanyahu replied, “Your proposal will receive serious consideration.”

Netanyahu renewed his call for the overthrow of the ruling regime in Iran, stating that “this regime is fanatical, and as long as it remains in power, it will try to recover its strength, revive its nuclear program, and seek to destroy us again, and rebuild both Hezbollah and Hamas.” He added, “To eliminate this entire system, we must overthrow this regime.”

For his part, US President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric against Iran and the Houthi group in Yemen, hinting at continued US action after the midterm elections in November. Trump said the Houthis “are behaving very badly,” accusing the group of returning to targeting Saudi Arabia, likely at Iran’s instigation, in an effort to raise oil prices ahead of the US elections.

Trump added in a post on his Truth Social platform that he would not forget these attacks, saying, “I will be there after the elections, and I will never forget,” referring to the possibility of continued US action after the electoral process concludes.

Regarding Iran, Trump responded to a journalist’s question by saying, “Wait and see what we will do to Iran. We will teach them a harsh lesson, and our patience with them has run out.”

The US website Axios, citing informed sources, reported that Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the possibility of launching a new attack on Iran ahead of the congressional midterm elections.
