New Delhi (Agencies): Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said yesterday that the US-led global order “has ended,” and that the world has entered a phase marked by escalating geopolitical uncertainty. Speaking on the first day of the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi, Sunak added that US President Donald Trump “is not the cause of this, but rather one of its symptoms.” He continued, “The world we live in now is one in which we do not fully know what the final settlement will be, creating a huge amount of geopolitical ambiguity, and indeed risk.” He noted that global dynamics are shifting in light of a new geopolitical reality, with China now a peer competitor to the United States in economic, military, and technological fields, while countries including India and Gulf states enjoy greater freedom to chart their own courses. Sunak, who remains a member of the British Parliament, also warned of the risks stemming from reliance on China for critical minerals and key components used in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
