Riyadh (KUNA) – The Quartet Group (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey) strongly condemned the ongoing hostile attacks launched by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including the heinous strikes that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, resulting in the death and injury of several civilians, as well as damage to infrastructure and civilian facilities, which constitutes a blatant violation of international law.

In a joint statement, the group reaffirmed that these attacks represent a blatant assault on the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, a direct threat to its security and stability, and a serious escalation that cannot be justified or accepted under any pretext. The group expressed its full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all lawful measures and steps taken to confront these attacks, deter the sources of threat, and prevent their recurrence, in defense of the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and to protect the safety of its citizens and residents, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

The group held the Houthi militia fully responsible for these attacks and their repercussions, which threaten regional and international peace and security, and called for an immediate and unconditional halt to such attacks.

Turkey, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and Pakistan, which possesses nuclear weapons, signed a mutual defense agreement with Saudi Arabia in August, stipulating that any attack on one party is considered an attack on all parties. Last week, the three countries stated that they had agreed to implement their collective defense commitments and ensure the “rapid deployment” of forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia amid the Houthi attacks.

Meanwhile, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmi reaffirmed the League’s full support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of the continuous attacks launched by the Houthi militia, which have resulted in casualties of various nationalities. In a statement, Fahmi said that the continuation of these attacks and the disregard for civilian lives constitute a highly dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the rules and principles of international law, noting that their recurrence reveals a determination to persist in an escalation strategy that threatens the security and stability of the region.

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take firm positions and measures to stop these attacks and hold those responsible accountable. He renewed the League’s full and steadfast solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to protect its security and stability and safeguard the safety of citizens and residents on its territory. He emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Arab national security, and that any infringement on the security of any Arab state constitutes an infringement on collective Arab security, stressing the League’s rejection of the continuation of these attacks and the increasing threats they impose on regional security.
