Maryam Al-Anzi, Director General of the General Administration of Supporting Educational Services at the Ministry of Education, affirmed that the national “Sur” campaign for cybersecurity awareness embodies a shared commitment to protecting students from the risks of online fraud and enhancing their ability to safeguard their data and privacy. She noted that the initiative contributes to instilling responsible digital behavior and promoting safe practices among students and their families. Al-Anzi stated that investing in the awareness and skills of children is an investment in Kuwait’s security and future, commending the collaboration between the National Cybersecurity Authority, Kuwait Finance House, Code Academy, and the Ministry of Education in protecting future generations.
The National Cybersecurity Authority announced the launch of the “Sur” campaign for 2026, in partnership with Kuwait Finance House and Code Academy, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The campaign will be implemented through two main pillars: an awareness tour across 12 public schools (two schools in each governorate), and a mediathon for content creation targeting 150 Kuwaiti youth aged 15 to 25.
The tour will target high school students in October and November, featuring interactive sessions on social engineering, digital fraud, and digital footprints, as well as the inferences that can be drawn from photos and public posts. The aim is to empower students to identify risks and make informed decisions to protect their accounts and data.
For his part, Dr. Talib Al-Sharif, principal of Salah Al-Din Al-Ayoubi Secondary School, emphasized the importance of intensifying awareness programs that familiarize students with safe methods of using technology and the internet, and enhance their ability to responsibly handle cyber threats.
The “Sur” mediathon will enable young people to move from receiving awareness messages to producing them, by training them to translate cybersecurity topics into clear messages and to leverage artificial intelligence tools and content creation techniques to produce short videos addressing their peers. The initiative aims to generate innovative and reliable content and to build a reusable awareness library under the umbrella of the National Cybersecurity Authority.
