Burkan Bank recently organized an interactive workshop titled “Cardiac Resuscitation and First Aid,” in collaboration with Kuwait Hospital and the American University of Science in Kuwait (AUS), coinciding with World First Aid Day. The event was held as part of the bank’s comprehensive corporate social responsibility strategy and its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, reflecting its dedication to contributing to initiatives that enhance health awareness and entrench preventive practices within society.
The workshop took place at the AUS Kuwait campus, embodying a synergy of expertise and resources among the three partners to deliver high-quality initiatives that support students and serve the community, particularly in the realm of health awareness. The event targeted a group of high school students, with specialized medical staff from Kuwait Hospital providing theoretical and practical training on the fundamental principles of first aid, as well as instructing students on cardiac resuscitation and rapid, safe response techniques for common emergencies.
The workshop aimed to equip students with practical skills to handle emergency situations appropriately, emphasizing the importance of first aid as a fundamental human skill.
Commenting on the occasion, Dana Faisal Al-Jassim, General Manager of Corporate Communications at Burkan Bank, stated: “At Burkan Bank, we believe that empowering youth extends beyond academics to include providing them with the skills and knowledge they need in their daily lives. Through this workshop, we aim to raise awareness about first aid basics and encourage students to acquire skills that could potentially save lives when needed. This initiative falls under our social responsibility and sustainability strategy.”
Al-Jassim added: “We are proud of this collaboration with the American University of Science in Kuwait and Kuwait Hospital, institutions under the umbrella of Kuwait Projects Company Holding (KIPCO), which brings together the expertise of group entities to deliver meaningful initiatives with tangible impact. We look forward to continuing such partnerships that enable us to provide educational and practical experiences enriching youth and enhancing their positive role in society.”
In parallel with the health component, the Burkan Bank team focused on enhancing financial literacy among students by highlighting the “Let’s Be Aware” banking awareness campaign launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in collaboration with the Kuwait Banks Association and supported by local banks. The session introduced simplified financial concepts encouraging savings and sound financial planning from an early age.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Burkan Bank honored representatives from Kuwait Hospital in appreciation of their efforts and contribution to the success of the training program, presenting them with commemorative plaques. Participating students were also honored and awarded certificates upon completing the training program, along with receiving commemorative gifts in recognition of their engagement and participation.
Continuing its comprehensive corporate social responsibility strategy and implementation of best practices in sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Burkan Bank remains committed to contributing to initiatives and activities that benefit society, including health, education, banking awareness, environmental protection, and youth empowerment.
