The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has launched the second edition of its Credit Analyst Development Program as part of the “NBK Corporate Academy,” in collaboration with Euromoney Institutional Investor. This initiative brings together 12 Kuwaiti employees for a comprehensive year-long development journey, reflecting NBK’s commitment to building talent and equipping participants with the technical knowledge, practical experience, and professional confidence needed to contribute effectively to its credit operations. The program offers participants a learning experience that combines technical development with practical application, covering key areas in banking and credit, including financial and business analysis, lending, deal structuring and risk assessment, credit monitoring, and credit reporting, supported by practical case studies and on-the-job applications.

The event was attended by Gilles Jan van der Tol, CEO of the NBK Group, along with a group of senior bank executives and Euromoney officials. Details of the second cohort of the Credit Analyst Development Program were presented, aiming to qualify personnel and equip them with the expertise necessary to enhance the level of banking and credit services provided to the corporate sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Afrah Al-Arbash, General Manager of Human Resources Management at NBK, said: “The significance of this specialized program lies in its focus on honing credit and financial analysis skills, and providing trainees with the experience needed to keep pace with the rapid developments in corporate banking.” She noted that building a new generation of financial and credit analysts not only strengthens the bank’s internal work environment and risk management efficiency, but also directly supports the national economy and enhances competitiveness in Kuwait’s banking sector as a whole.

Al-Arbash added: “Investing in human capital and developing young national talent is at the core of our plans. Through the NBK Corporate Academy, we are committed to providing a comprehensive educational and training environment that equips our employees with advanced skills in credit analysis, preparing a promising generation that keeps pace with developments in the financial sector and contributes to the bank’s sustainable success.”

She emphasized that the bank’s true investment lies in developing human capital and equipping it with the latest analytical tools and global financial standards, noting that this program will enhance the readiness of young staff to provide financial and professional solutions for the business sector, reflecting the bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting Kuwait’s vision of building a sustainable banking sector capable of driving economic growth as a trusted partner.

Al-Arbash stated: “We are not merely offering a training course; we are providing our employees with a comprehensive professional pathway that refines their skills and transforms theoretical knowledge into well-informed decisions, thereby strengthening the bank’s position as a preferred destination for talent and those passionate about banking excellence.”

She added: “The launch of the new cohort of the NBK Corporate Academy reflects our proactive approach to improving the quality of banking services directed at the business and corporate sectors.” She explained that modern economic challenges require new standards in risk assessment and the evaluation of credit opportunities, highlighting that the importance of this program lies in equipping the bank with a elite group of credit analysts capable of providing well-researched advisory and financing services that meet the aspirations of our corporate partners.
