Al-Houti Presents the Gulf Legends Shield to Ali Al-Ghanim

Former Al-Azraq star Saad Al-Houti presented his commemorative shield, awarded among the legends of Gulf football, to former Kuwait Club president Ali Thunyan Al-Ghanim, in recognition of his role and support for the generation that achieved historic milestones in Kuwaiti football. Al-Houti was honored on the sidelines of the “Gulf Cup 27” tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in appreciation of his career with Al-Azraq, which saw him win the title three times, including the 1980 Asian Cup, participation in the 1980 Moscow Olympics, and the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain.

Kuwait Club’s honorary president Marzouq Al-Ghanim praised this gesture, expressing his appreciation for Al-Houti’s loyalty. He wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account: “The greatness of men lies not only in the glories they achieved, but also in their loyalty to those who shared the path with them.” Al-Ghanim added that Al-Houti’s insistence on visiting his father and recalling his role, as well as the role of the men who supported that generation, reflects a deeper meaning of loyalty, noting that major achievements are not made by individuals alone, but are backed by men who believed in them and contributed to their realization.

Al-Ghanim concluded his tribute to Al-Houti by saying: “This is how we know Saad Al-Houti… great in his contributions, great in his character, and great in remembering kindness,” expressing his gratitude for this noble gesture.
