New York, Agencies: Saudi Arabia reiterated its assertion that the escalation by the Houthi terrorist militia will prolong the crisis in Yemen, noting that the repercussions of Houthi threats extend beyond Yemen and the region. Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wassan, stressed that “the Kingdom will not allow Yemen to be turned into a platform for threatening our security.” He added, “The Houthi militia continues to target civilian infrastructure, threatening the safety of civil aviation,” affirming his country’s inherent right to self-defense and to protect its security.
For its part, the Yemeni government called on the UN Security Council to take “practical and resolute” measures to halt the Houthi military escalation and curb the flow of weapons and military technology to the group. Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdullah Al-Saadi, stated that the “Yemen Dawn” operation represents a new phase in restoring state institutions, ending the coup, and reclaiming territories, ultimately reaching the capital, Sanaa. Al-Saadi emphasized the necessity of restoring state institutions and centralizing control over weapons and the authority to declare war and peace, as several fronts, including Taiz, Lahij, Marib, Al-Jawf, and Hajjah, witness escalating confrontations and military movements.
