In the presence of Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, and in keeping with its annual tradition, Al-Tasheelat Commercial Company sponsored the celebration of World Elderly Day 2026, under the theme “Our Elders: Our Partners in the Digital Future.” The event was organized by the Elderly Care Department within the Social Care and Development Sector at Sheikhah Salwa Al-Sabah Hall in Salmiya. Al-Tasheelat’s sponsorship of the ceremony is part of its corporate social responsibility programs and its partnerships with state institutions.
The celebration featured the launch of the “Charter of Loyalty to the Elderly” by Minister Al-Huwail. This national and community framework unites institutions and individuals around principles that safeguard the rights of the elderly, preserve their status, and improve their quality of life. The Minister noted that the Charter supports their independence, encourages their participation in social, cultural, and volunteer life, opens the door to digital empowerment, and ensures that their experience remains a valuable asset for the nation. She also highlighted that more than 4,000 beneficiaries are currently benefiting from the Ministry’s mobile home care services.
In a statement on this occasion, Khalid Al-Ali, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Al-Tasheelat Commercial Company, said: “The elderly are the ones who deserve gratitude for what we enjoy today; they built, taught, and raised us. It is their right that they find their place in a rapidly changing world. We chose to support this occasion to affirm that giving does not stop at a certain age, and that the experience and wisdom of our elders are a true asset for any society looking toward the future. We believe that technology should serve as a bridge connecting them to services and society, not a barrier separating them from it. Therefore, at Al-Tasheelat, we strive to ensure our services are easy, clear, and comfortable for all customer segments, especially the elderly and retirees. We extend our sincere thanks to the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Elderly Care Department for their efforts, and we wish our elders continued health and well-being.”
Tharwat Adly, Director of Marketing at Al-Tasheelat Commercial Company, added: “Our participation in this celebration reflects our belief that partnership between the public and private sectors is the optimal way to translate national initiatives into tangible impacts on people’s lives. We are pleased to see the Ministry of Social Affairs launch the ‘Charter of Loyalty to the Elderly,’ as it is an important step that reinforces respect for them and enhances their presence in society. We are keen to be a supporting partner for such initiatives. In this context, we reaffirm the continuation of our campaign ‘Al-Tasheelat Always with Retirees,’ launched to honor this cherished group, providing them with financing that meets their diverse needs through special and exclusive offers. We continue to develop these offerings to align with their aspirations and facilitate their access to our services.”
Adly praised the efforts of the state, represented by the Ministry of Social Affairs, in improving the lives of the elderly and addressing their issues with great care. Al-Tasheelat, through its “Al-Tasheelat Always with Retirees” campaign, reaffirms its commitment to retirees and the elderly by providing financing tailored to their needs and exclusive offers that reflect its appreciation for their enduring contributions.
On the sidelines of the celebration, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, honored Al-Tasheelat Commercial Company, presenting a commemorative plaque in recognition of its participation and support. The plaque was received by the company’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Khalid Al-Ali.
