Rainfall 'Above Average'.. Public Works on High Alert

Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Muqarrab announced the raising of readiness levels, follow-up, and coordination among relevant authorities to ensure swift handling of rainwater accumulations and emergency situations, based on climate forecasts for the coming period indicating that rainfall amounts during October, November, and December may exceed usual averages. Emphasizing the need for continued coordination among these authorities and rapid response to any developments during rainy conditions, Dr. Al-Muqarrab chaired a meeting of the Rainfall and Flash Flood Impacts Committee, attended by committee members and representatives of relevant agencies, to review preparedness measures for the rainy season. The meeting reviewed the preparedness of participating entities, action plans for the rainy season, and the readiness of field teams, equipment, and machinery across various sites. Dr. Al-Muqarrab inspected cleaning operations for rainwater drainage openings and networks, as well as the preparedness of pumping stations and procedures for managing sites prone to water accumulation. The meeting also discussed the roles of participating entities, coordination mechanisms among them, emergency plans, and procedures for addressing the impacts of rainfall and flash floods.
