Meanwhile, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) called for a firm international stance against the Houthi terrorist attacks on the sovereignty and security of the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation yesterday of the brazen attacks by the Houthi militia on Abha and King Khaled International Airports in Saudi Arabia, which resulted in several deaths and dozens of civilian injuries. These attacks constitute a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry stressed Kuwait’s unequivocal rejection of the recurrence of these cowardly attacks targeting innocent civilians and civilian and economic assets, reiterating the necessity of their immediate cessation. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with and support for the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, backing all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and the protection of its citizens and residents on its territory. It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Kuwait’s security and the security of the GCC member states, while extending its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the victims’ families and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
For his part, GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Bedawi strongly condemned the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia, which targeted Abha and King Khaled International Airports in Saudi Arabia, resulting in civilian casualties. He affirmed that targeting civilian airports and endangering the lives of travelers, workers, and civilians represents a serious escalation and a blatant violation of international laws and norms, necessitating a firm and deterrent international response and preventing the continuation of such practices that threaten regional and international peace and security.
