McTominay returns to Napoli

Napoli announced that midfielder Scott McTominay has received the green light to return to action after a period of recovery following surgery to treat a heart rhythm disorder. The 29-year-old Scottish international underwent the procedure in Manchester last September after being diagnosed with a “minor and benign heart rhythm disorder,” a condition that causes irregular heartbeats. McTominay underwent further tests and was granted clearance to resume his sporting activities, returning to training with Napoli and being ready to join the squad selected by manager Massimiliano Allegri. In a statement, Napoli said: “Scott McTominay underwent additional diagnostic tests, which showed he is fit to play. Consequently, the Napoli player has resumed training with the rest of the team after a period of individual workouts.” McTominay has not played since August 30, missing Napoli’s 3-2 defeat to Serie A champions Inter, as well as their loss to Arsenal in the Champions League. Napoli, currently ninth in the Italian league standings, will host sixth-placed Frosinone tomorrow.
