Islamabad Condemns New Delhi's Use of "Water Weapon"
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, condemned what he described as “India’s use of water as a weapon,” affirming that the Indus Waters Treaty remains fully in force and that India’s unilateral decision to suspend the treaty lacks any legal basis. Dar stated that shared rivers should serve as a means of peace and cooperation, not coercion. He clarified that India unilaterally suspended the treaty in April 2025, despite the treaty containing no provision allowing either party to suspend, terminate, or temporarily halt its implementation.
