Parenting is a Shared Responsibility
The responsibility for upbringing cannot be reduced solely to parents or those caring for children, nor can every negative behavior exhibited by them be taken as evidence of familial negligence. Education is a complex, ongoing process in which multiple influences and factors—both within and outside the family—interact. Friends, peers, the surrounding environment, social media platforms, artificial intelligence, applications, media outlets, television series and films, and various programs broadcast on satellite channels have all become genuine educational influences that directly or indirectly shape children’s awareness, behavior, and values. The danger lies in the fact that some of these influences are inconsistent with ethical and educational values, and may even weaken the family system, which constitutes the foundational nucleus for building a cohesive and stable society. Consequently, interpreting family problems or students’ behavioral issues solely through the lens of “family deficiency” represents a superficial reading of reality. Some problems that begin with simple causes can escalate into disruptions in family relationships, psychological and social instability, and may even lead to divorce and family breakdown.
Moreover, the growing reliance on artificial intelligence for seeking marital or family advice raises an important educational question: Can technology replace human dialogue and specialized expertise? While AI tools may serve as helpful aids, they should not substitute for professionals specializing in complex family and psychological matters. Similarly, a fight between a male or female student at school does not necessarily indicate shortcomings in home upbringing; such behavior may result from multiple external factors. Therefore, addressing behavioral and educational challenges requires moving beyond a culture of blame and recognizing education as a shared responsibility among the family, school, society, media, and the digital environment. Children are not raised solely within the walls of the home; their awareness is shaped by everything that surrounds them.
