The handball league resumes its schedule today with two matches in the fourteenth round. Al-Qadsia will face Al-Salmiya at 5:00 p.m., followed by a clash between Al-Arabi and Al-Salmiya at 6:30 p.m. at the Union Hall in Dae’i.
League competitions had been suspended following the conclusion of the thirteenth round in late February due to the security situation in the region, before the Kuwait Handball Federation decided to postpone the completion of the senior league tournaments to the start of the next season, while accepting the results of youth category competitions as they stood at the time of suspension.
According to the Federation’s schedule, the Premier League and First Division competitions will continue until October 29, followed by the Federation Cup, which will last for 15 days and conclude on November 16. Local competitions will then pause due to Kuwait SC’s participation in the Gulf Club Championship in Bahrain, as well as the national team’s preparations for the 2027 World Cup. The 2026-2027 season will kick off in February next year with the Super Cup, followed by the general league.
The withdrawal of Al-Qadsia and Al-Salmiya from today’s matches appears likely, as both clubs had previously announced their non-participation in senior competitions. However, their failure to formally notify the Federation compelled the Competitions Committee to include them in the tournament schedule. If they withdraw again during the next three rounds, financial penalties stipulated in the regulations will be imposed, their results will be expunged, and the number of teams in the league will be reduced.
