The Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Kuwait expressed, in a statement received by Al-Nahar, its profound appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the Yemeni Republic, its leadership, government, and people, for the “steadfast and noble fraternal” stance of the State of Kuwait, its Amir, government, and people, and their continuous support for the Yemeni people across various stages and circumstances. The embassy emphasized that this support embodies the depth of the historical ties and shared destiny between the two countries in the face of challenges threatening regional security and stability.
The embassy reaffirmed its confidence that Kuwaiti media and press will continue their role in highlighting what it described as “national victories,” which, according to the statement, serve the interests of Gulf and Arab national security.
The embassy announced the launch of a comprehensive military operation codenamed “Yemen Dawn,” in implementation of a decision by the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, and with backing from the coalition supporting legitimacy. It characterized the operation as a “decisive turning point” toward restoring state institutions and extending sovereignty over all Yemeni territories. According to its assessment, the decision to launch the operation came after “exhausting all political and diplomatic regional and international efforts” to achieve peace, accusing the Houthi group of continuing military escalation and threatening international shipping lanes and neighboring states. The embassy deemed military resolution “inevitable” to protect the Yemeni people’s assets and safeguard Arab national security.
The embassy outlined three main objectives for the operation: ending the coup, restoring state institutions, and extending the authority of the legitimate government over Yemeni governorates, most notably Sana’a; securing international waterways, particularly the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the southern Red Sea; and targeting Houthi military capabilities, including drones, missile launchers, and boat depots, according to the statement.
Regarding field developments, the embassy stated that the Yemeni Armed Forces and joint forces achieved synchronized advances along several fronts during the first 24 hours of the operation. It noted the consolidation of control over the Dhubab directorate and its military airport, and the securing of Mayun Island, the Amri camp, and the Kuhboub mountains along the western coastal axis, which it said enhances control over the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The embassy added that forces managed to “clear” the city and port of Al-Mukha and cut Houthi supply lines, coinciding with the start of an offensive toward the heart of Sana’a. It also reported control over the Al-Nadr and Al-Haseef areas in Al-Jawf, and the Al-Faliha and Qurun Al-Bur areas south of Marib, alongside strikes against Houthis in Haraz district in Hajjah governorate.
According to the statement, 100 fighter jets belonging to the coalition supporting legitimacy provided intensive aerial cover for the operation, targeting 324 high-value military sites and facilities. The embassy cited preliminary figures indicating that air, land, and sea operations resulted in the killing and wounding of 1,747 Houthi fighters, the destruction or damage of 364 military vehicles and equipment, and the capture of some group members in Dhubab, while others fled by sea.
In conclusion, the embassy reiterated that the operation aims to restore state institutions, extend sovereignty over Yemeni territories, and secure international maritime passages, once again expressing its appreciation for Kuwait’s position and the support it provides to the Yemeni people.
