Kuwait: Absolute Solidarity with Saudi Arabia

Qiyas summary

Kuwait supports Saudi Arabia and condemns Houthi attacks on holy sites and ships

Translated by Qiyas from النهار — Original source

Kuwait has reaffirmed its absolute solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, standing by its side and supporting all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and the protection of its citizens and residents on its territory. It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Kuwait’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s condemnation and denunciation of the brazen and shameful continued attacks by the Houthi militia on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In a statement, the Ministry said that these attacks constitute a provocation of the feelings of Muslims worldwide, a serious escalation in the violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, as well as attacks against the capital Riyadh and several other cities in the Kingdom, alongside targeting civilians, civilian and economic assets, and ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which threatens the security of the region and the safety of maritime navigation. The Ministry further affirmed Kuwait’s firm rejection of the recurrence of these cowardly hostile acts, given that they represent a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international and humanitarian law. Kuwait reiterated its support for the legitimate Yemeni government, as well as the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen, commending in this regard the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sustained efforts since 2014 to support initiatives aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement in Yemen in accordance with the three reference points, and its leadership of the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen. Kuwait called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and implement its relevant resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817.
