The legend Lionel Messi bids farewell to his national team, Argentina, tonight at the Monumental Stadium, home of River Plate in Buenos Aires, as he plays his final match in an Argentina jersey in a friendly against Guinea. Messi was called up to the national squad to be honored in the manner he deserves, after the 39-year-old star decided in late August to retire from international football with Argentina, following more than two decades of a passionate career that included winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, losing the 2026 final in North America, and winning the Copa América in 2021 and 2024.
