Silence Prevails

Of course, when talk becomes excessive and turns into idle chatter, silence is better; not every remark deserves a response. A conscious and perceptive person must be precise in answering and should not exhaust himself in a losing debate, as there are people who are ignorant of the subject and love chaos. We have entered an era of noise and disorder, where everyone talks and analyzes politics and issues religious rulings, compounded by the proliferation of satellite channels. With provocative talk shows that resemble verbal battles through inviting opponents to debate, viewers ultimately perceive only a wrestling match of words. As God Almighty said: “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. ‘And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace.’” (Quran, Surah Al-Furqan, 25:63). Therefore, when a discussion intensifies, it is best to acknowledge the other party’s correctness and withdraw immediately. Frankly, continuing will only harm you and diminish your scientific and social standing. Watching such channels is merely a waste of time. It is evident that these guests are paid by news outlets, which repeat the same story throughout the day due to their lack of original news content, not to mention the questionable credibility of such reports.

Speech is both a blessing and a curse. Advice offered by experts is a blessing and a guide toward clarity; speaking the truth at the right time to save innocent people is also a blessing. Among the detested evils in society is lying, which is undoubtedly a scourge on both the individual and the community. Or when an expert speaks on an important matter and everyone listens to benefit, yet someone else interrupts, distorting his words and distracting the audience. The greatest misfortune occurs when someone presents a false testimony, obscuring the truth in the eyes of decision-makers. Therefore, we urge young people not to rely on the words of friends, for “a person follows the character of his companion.” There are bad friends who do not wish you well; they drag you into disguised vices. You should seek counsel from those who fear for you and care about you. You will find no one more devoted to your well-being than your parents, who wish for you to surpass them and take pride in that.

Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) was established in 1976 as a public institution with legal personality. It deserves appreciation and respect for several reasons, foremost among them being its status as a genuine Kuwaiti institution that collects and disseminates local and international news, and distributes it to global stations, free from interpretation or marketing of other news agendas. It focuses on Kuwait’s local and international affairs, which is why society trusts its credibility and relies on it for news reporting. It operates around the clock and has news correspondents in most countries worldwide. It publishes news in both Arabic and English. Hence, I advise all citizens and residents in beloved Kuwait to rely on and listen to the Kuwait News Agency whenever any event occurs. Even if there is a delay in reporting, it undoubtedly strives for accuracy and credibility. Finally, we say: May God protect Kuwait and its people from all harm.
