Lieberman calls for cancellation of Oslo Agreement and dismantling of the Palestinian Authority

Occupied Jerusalem – Agencies: Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the “Israel Beiteinu” party and former Israeli Defense Minister, has unveiled a new political plan for the future of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, calling for the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority and the abolition of the remaining framework of the Oslo Accords, while maintaining Israeli security responsibility across the entire West Bank and preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state with international recognition. Lieberman appears eager to implement his plan, anticipating that the incoming U.S. president will move to recognize a Palestinian state and introduce a resolution in the UN Security Council granting it full UN membership. He added, “In a little over two years, as soon as a new president—whether Republican or Democrat—takes office in the White House, the United States will recognize a Palestinian state and will take the initiative to introduce a resolution in the Security Council granting it full membership in the United Nations.” He argued that “recognizing a Palestinian state is inevitable given the erosion of support for Israel among the American public; there is a well-established political rule: once popular support is lost, political support is also lost.” Lieberman stated on the X platform, “Thirty-three years have passed since the Oslo Accords,” following the signing of the first agreement in 1993, and added, “The human cost we have paid for this adventure has been extremely high; it far exceeds the human losses incurred during the 33 years preceding the agreement,” according to his claim.
